Nice Weather: Sunny

Published by WeiHu under France

It’s Sunday and like most places in France, everything is closed. The Monoprix (grocery store), H&M (clothing), and even the Kebab place where I get my lunches from are all closed. Sundays are for relaxing. Everyone heads for the beach and when in Nice, do as the… Nicians?

Today is also Giang’s last day in Nice […]

Let’s Go: Monaco!

Published by WeiHu under France

A bus ride to Monaco is 1€ via bus and takes about 30minutes, just enough time to fall asleep to catch a power nap. Monaco is a sovereign state located along the Mediterranean just east of Nice. It is famous of racing and its congregation of tax-avoiding wealth. The next day Stephanie, Gene, Giang and […]

Welcome to Nice-ville!

Published by WeiHu under France

My friend Stephanie was able to make it out here to Paris to join Giang and I on a trip down to Nice, in southern France. The original purpose of the trip was to go to the Cannes Film Festival, but after researching it turns out that was not possible. Hotel rates skyrocket for this […]

Other sights of Paris

Published by WeiHu under France

I have many pictures that were taken in Paris that really don’t belong under a single posting. So I’ll just put them all in here.
Giang and I went to Jim Morisson’s grave. We were hoping to meet up with Gene there but we never found him. After the cemetery, we stopped to get some ice […]

The Metro System

Published by WeiHu under France

Paris’ metro system runs until right around 1:30am or 2am. The last metro ride I’ve ever gotten was right around 1:45am. After that time, much like London, night buses take over. Here are some pictures of Paris’ metro when its empty.

There’s an eerie feeling about riding the subway when there’s barely anyone there. Light flickers […]

Pari Roller

Published by WeiHu under France

I first discovered Pari Roller by accident when Giang and I were heading out to the bars and happened to run into the event in action. The video at the end of this post shows our initial shock of the event. At first I threw out the idea of doing this since I was traveling […]

La Défense

Published by WeiHu under France

La Défense is an area located on the western side of Paris. From the Arc de Triomphe you can see the high rise offices and unique hollow rectangle building. This area houses the business district of Paris, including the offices of my ex company. I decided to take a trip out there and check it […]

Paris @ Night

Published by WeiHu under France

I am not a morning person. The night is so much more interesting. I bought a week long unlimited metro pass the following Monday. It’s only worth it to buy it on Monday as the cycle always refreshes on Mondays. I began my adventures of exploring Paris every evening around 9:00pm as the sun sets, […]

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe was built to honor the Napoleon Kings and marks the tomb of the unknown World War II soldier. It is located at the Place Charles de Gaulle in the intersection of several streets thus forming a roundabout. It can be seen in the distance from the streets that form the intersection. […]
