The two weeks of Yoga was great and I got to meet some really cool people. Marci, Aimee, Amy and I head back to Varkala to enjoy some of the things we couldn’t while at the Ashram. Beaches, booze and meat are on our minds. We spend two nights in Varkala relaxing in the sun, much like the group I had met just two weeks ago. We meet up with Kathryn who was also at the Ashram and she joins the group. Our next destination is Alleppey where I take a break to relax while the girls do their thing on a houseboat.

Afterwards we head to the hills or Munnar to reach our final destination of Kodakanal/Vadakanal. Munnar comes into view via expansive clumps of green tea leaves. The weather is really nice and a welcome change after the hot temperatures of the coast. Aimee gets really sick on the bus ride over and earns the title weaksauce for this duration of the trip. After reaching town our first priority is to get some lodging as the temperatures have taken a sudden dip as the sun went down. Munnar is full of hills and the guesthouses are spread out. We take two rickshaws that drive us around guesthouse to guesthouse to find a suitable location for four people.

Aimee is bedridden the rest of our time in Munnar. Marci picks up another American while at an internet café. Christine joins Marci and I as we go explore the tea fields. Kathryn is addicted to the internet so she heads to the internet café for the day. Amy is still sick, bedridden, and catches up on the latest HBO movies, weaksauce.

Hiking the hills of Munnar is nice. Our hiking trails descents into endless tea fields towards one of many waterfalls that’s in the area. The waterfall, although not at impressive, was definitely worth the exercise and excursion. We stop at a tea shop near the waterfall and relax before realizing that it’s about to get dark soon. We double it time back up the hill and head in for the night. The next day we all head to Kodikanal.
