Beach Town India: Varkala
I spent more time in Varkala than I probably should have, but this place so peaceful and relaxing. I got my dell laptop fixed again so I had to wait for a while. Seven passed so quickly. I spend my time relaxing on the beaches, body surfing the rough waves, and sipping fresh fruit shakes along the cliff side.
During my stay there was an Elephant festival in the nearby city. So a group of took a taxi over to check it out. The streets were crowded with a sea of Indian people looking at the two dozen plus elephants parading through the streets. It reminded me of how crowded and populated this country is. All the balconies overlooking the streets were completely full and as was the sidewalks. At some point the elephant trainers had to herd the crowd out of the way of the parade. It was the first time I had seen an Asian elephant and I expected them to be smaller, since the African ones are bigger. To my surprise these things are huge. It was really impressive to see these creatures up close.
