On my ferry trip from Alleppey down to Varkala I decide to spend the night at Ama’s Ashram. From a distance it looks like an old deserted hotel. The building rise high over the backwaters overlooking both the waterway and the ocean with a layer of palm trees between them. Ama’s ashram focuses mainly on meditation. I didn’t really like it there and it felt like a cult. She wasn’t even at the ashram so it was pretty dull. I think the only good thing about my overnight stay at Ama’s ashram was the incredible view from the fourteenth floor.
